Cost Share Signup Policy
ATTENTION ALL LIVINGSTON COUNTY LANDOWNERS
The Livingston County SWCD Board of Supervisors has established the following
policies for applying for state cost-share assistance.
The fiscal year
begins July 1st through June 30th.
- A landowner, or their representative, must come to the office in person to
apply for cost-share assistance. Requests may only be made in the office.
- The landowner, or their representative, will be issued a receipt. This receipt
is only good for the SWCD fiscal year. This receipt provides proof that the
landowner has made a request for cost-share assistance. (This will eliminate a
landowner thinking they had made a request for assistance, but their name had
not been added to the list.)
- NRCS staff will schedule a visit to the farm to look at the site and prepare a
conservation plan.
- Signup is ongoing for all practices. All structure sites signed up during
the past fiscal year will be evaluated and ranked. Any structure requests
received after the ranking period (usually March or April of each calendar
year) will be ranked the next fiscal year.
- All practices, except structures, will be approved for cost-share on a basis
when the practice is able to be staked. For example, “after wheat” terraces will
have top priority, followed by fall “after corn or soybeans” harvest.
NOTE — NOTE — NOTE
A 10% reduction in cost-share assistance will be assessed should
construction be started and the practice not completed by June 15th.
The above policy was established due to landowners signing up for a practice and
not completing their practice in a timely manner. This causes the practice to be
carried over into the next year and reduces the allowable funding by that amount
causing the District’s total allocation for the next year to be less. The Board
felt this was unfair to the rest of the landowners.
